CMON's SDCC Exclusives: A Betrayal to Loyal Fans and Backers?

In recent years, CMON has built a reputation for creating some of the most beloved board games in the industry. Titles like Zombicide , Dune , Cyberpunk 2077 , Cthulhu: Death May Die , Arcadia Quest and Marvel United have garnered a dedicated fanbase, many of whom have supported these games through Kickstarter campaigns and retail purchases. However, CMON's recent decision to make exclusive content for these games available only at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) has sparked significant outrage among its loyal supporters. The Exclusivity Issue At the heart of the controversy are the exclusive expansions and content for Zombicide: White Death, Cthulhu: Death May Die, and Marvel United. These exclusives include: Zombicide: White Death TMNT Expansion: Featuring comics and Rocksteady and Bebop miniatures for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion. Pokémon GO: Anniversary Tour Kanto

Next year marks both Pokémon’s 25th Anniversary and Pokémon GO’s 5th Anniversary. To celebrate Niantic has announced a virtual, ticketed event that Trainers all around the globe will be able to take part in on February 20th.

Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto

In the ticketed version of this event, you’ll choose between the Red Version or Green Version of the event experience, each featuring version-exclusive Pokémon. Complete event-exclusive Special Research. Trading with friends who chose the other version will be important, just like it was in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green.

  • The first 150 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will be available as Shiny Pokémon, some of them for the first time ever.
    • Player's will be able to encounter these Shiny Pokémon after the event is over.
    • Completing the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research, will unlock a second event-exclusive Special Research that will reward Shiny Mew.
      • Note these Special Research usually become available for everyone 3-6 months after the paid event.
  • Tickets for Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto are available in the in-app shop now.
    • Purchasing the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto ticket will also give you tickets for the Special Research stories for the January and February Community Day events.
      • January Community Day is scheduled for January 16th, you must purchase your Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto ticket by Wednesday, January 13th to receive both tickets.
      • February Community Day is scheduled for February 7th, you must purchase your Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto ticket by Wednesday, February 3rd to receive this ticket.

Ticketed Experience $11.99 USD

In addition to the features mentioned above players will also receive;

  • All Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will be appearing in the wild, will be appearing in raids, will be appearing in encounters after research tasks, will be attracted to Incense, or will be obtainable via Evolution during this time.
    • Pokémon will vary depending on which version of the ticket is purchased.
  • Collecting the first 150 Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto will earn rewards.
    • Players have until have until February 27th to complete the task.
  • Earn more Candy for catching Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region.

Non-Ticketed Experience

The following features will be available to all Trainers during the event, regardless of whether they purchase a ticket;

  • Some Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto will be appearing in the wild and in raids.
  • Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo will be returning to Legendary raids.
    • Articuno caught during the event will know Hurricane.
    • Zapdos caught during the event will know Thunder Shock.
    • Moltres caught during the event will know Sky Attack.
    • Mewtwo caught during the event will know Psystrike.
  • All Trainers will be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research.
  • Trade range will be increased to 40 km.

Red Version or Green Version

Red Version

  • Exclusive Pokémon: Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther, and Electabuzz will be attracted to Incense.
  • Shiny Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Ekans, Pikachu, Nidoran ♀, Oddish, Diglett, Mankey, Growlithe, Ponyta, Shellder, Drowzee, Krabby, Hitmonlee, Lickitung, Scyther, Electabuzz, Eevee, Kabuto, and Dratini.

Green Version

  • Exclusive Pokémon: Sandshrew, Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Magmar, and Pinsir will be attracted to Incense.
  • Shiny Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Pikachu, Sandshrew, Nidoran ♂, Vulpix, Meowth, Psyduck, Bellsprout, Geodude, Exeggcute, Hitmonchan, Koffing, Tangela, Horsea, Magmar, Pinsir, Eevee, Omanyte, and Dratini.
