Strategy

After Tapu Bulu uses Grass Impact in battle, the field will become Grassy Terrain. Grassy Terrain increases the power of Grass-type moves and replenishes HP when using Grass-type moves. A good way of dealing with Grassy Terrain is to use interference such as Flinching, Confusion, or Trapped or inflicting Status Conditions like Poison or Bad Poison.

However, once the interference wears off, resistance to it will be strengthened. So try to only use interference whil Grassy Terrain is in effect and focus on preventing your opponent from recovering HP. Tapu Bulu also uses powerful physical attack moves, so reducing its Attack will reduce the damage you take.

HP Bar 1

  • Your opponent is weak against Flying-type moves, so use them to do more damage than the Grassy Terrain's HP recovery
  • You can lessen the damage of Tapu Bulu's powerful physical attacks by using Dawn & Torterra's X Defense All to raise the Defense of all allied Syn pairs
  • You can use Kahili & Toucannon's Second Wind! to guarantee a critial hit on your next attack. Try following this up with a Sync Move for massive damage
  • On Hard difficulty or higher, physical attack moves become less effective when your HP is at half or less. When that happens, you can launch a special attack.

Recommended Sync Pairs Option 1

  1. Dawn & Torterra
  2. Player Character & Torchic
  3. Kahili & Toucannon

Recommended Sync Pairs Option 2

  1. Roxanne & Probopass
  2. Rosa & Sererior
  3. Blue & Pidgeot

HP Bar 2

  • Your opponent is now weak against Poison-type attacks
  • Try disrupting the Grassy Terrain. You can inflict Bad Poison with Lucy & Serviper's Poison Fang, or inflict Trapped with Lucy & Seviper's Wrap, or Wallace & Milotic's Whirlpool.
  • By lowering Tapu Bulu's Defense, you can easily deal with its HP Bar 2

Recommended Sync Pairs Option 1

  1. Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom
  2. Wallace & Milotic
  3. Plumeria & Salazzle

Recommended Sync Pairs Option 2

  1. Sabrina & Alakazam
  2. Nanu & Persian
  3. Lucy & Seviper

HP Bar 3

  • Your opponent is now weak against Flying-type attacks
  • You can use Will & Xatu's Confuse Ray, or Air Slash to inflict Flinching or Confusion on Tapu Bulu and disrupt its Grassy Terrain
  • On Hard difficulty or higher, your opponents' Attack will raise at certain times. You can get ready by boosting your allies' Defense or recovering their HP

Recommended Sync Pairs Option 1

  1. Skyla & Swanna
  2. Will & Xatu
  3. Nate & Braviary
