CMON's SDCC Exclusives: A Betrayal to Loyal Fans and Backers?

Image
In recent years, CMON has built a reputation for creating some of the most beloved board games in the industry. Titles like Zombicide , Dune , Cyberpunk 2077 , Cthulhu: Death May Die , Arcadia Quest and Marvel United have garnered a dedicated fanbase, many of whom have supported these games through Kickstarter campaigns and retail purchases. However, CMON's recent decision to make exclusive content for these games available only at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) has sparked significant outrage among its loyal supporters. The Exclusivity Issue At the heart of the controversy are the exclusive expansions and content for Zombicide: White Death, Cthulhu: Death May Die, and Marvel United. These exclusives include: Zombicide: White Death TMNT Expansion: Featuring comics and Rocksteady and Bebop miniatures for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion. This expansion is only available at SDCC, but was highly requested by backers during the entire campaign. Godzilla Expansion for Cthulhu: D

Cover & Solicit 4/5

I really liked the cover for this issue. We find Dazzler fighting a Brood Queen. The colors and art are just exquisite and pop.

Art, Colors & Inking 3/5

I opened the book and smiled, say goodbye to the Æon Flux style, from the past two issues. I was so glad that they changed artist this issue. While still not one of my favorite styles anything is better than what we had before. The issue would have even gotten a 4 if it wasn't for the last pages where for who knows what reason the artist from issues 6 & 7 returns to draw a few pages. I mean really?

Layout & Flow 4/5

This issue does an OK job at being a .1 but I can't say it's new reader friendly. I can find no fault with the layout and flow of this issue, its more a character flaw. Dazzler seems so naive at where they are it almost can make the reader second guess it and can be a little confusing as well. It's also nice to see the issue almost and I say almost catch up with the current Earth-616 because when it started we were already deep into AvX. Dazzler left before that but returns here sometime after.

Story 4/5

This issues Xavier is a little strange, he is a space whale. I mean I guess that's possible, alternate universe alternate rules right. This "evil" Xavier has been taken over by a Brood Queen and is using Xavier to scan out alternate universes for her to feed and spread. Dazzler and company follow them to Earth-616 where they come face-to-face with Cyclops after the events of AvX. Seeing what's happening in this universe Dazzler can't believe it's her own, and is only glad Cyclops killed an "evil" Xavier. They do a recap of all the others they have killed and I may be mistaken but I think this is the first time they mention there are 10 they have to kill total. As Dazzler and team leave Cyclops tells her how proud he is that she is becoming a great leader, and that this is her universe. I like the final statement as Dazzler leaves that she is sick of this universe, as it relates to all the horrible things that the X-Men she loved and trusted could perform such horrible atrocities.

Verdict 3.7
