Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Steamforged Games Acquires Euthia

Steamforged Games, leading UK tabletop games developer and publisher (Monster Hunter World: The Board Game, DARK SOULS: The Board Game, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Board Game, Bardsung, Epic Encounters, and more) announce acquisition of the Euthia IP and a partnership with Czech studio, Diea Games, to resurrect the Euthia board game crowdfunding campaign that was cancelled in May this year after raising over half a million dollars in just two days.

Euthia, rated 8.8 on BoardGameGeek and currently out-of-print, is an open-world fantasy sandbox RPG board game that initially ran on Kickstarter in 2020 and was well-received by the public. Described as Diablo-esque by reviewers, the game can be played competitively, solo, or cooperatively. News of the cancellation of the second crowdfunding campaign was felt throughout the tabletop community.

With Steamforged's support, Diea Games are now able to realise their dream of becoming a full-time development studio and can continue their work on design and development of Euthia to bring the game back to life with exciting new expansions.

By acquiring the Euthia IP, Steamforged are able to use their significant experience in successfully crowdfunding, publishing, and delivering tabletop games to re-launch the game. This time, the crowdfunding campaign will run on Kickstarter, with streamlined new pledge levels designed to offer viable, high-quality products to new and returning backers, without sacrificing gameplay content.

Rich Loxam, Steamforged CEO, said: "When we heard what happened with Euthia, we felt compelled to reach out to Diea. Steamforged started out in the corner of a retail store more than eight years ago and, although we've come a long way since then, we remember what it’s like to have a game you really believe in and to be facing the challenges of making that a reality.

Now, the Steamforged library has grown significantly to include fifteen different ranges and we’ve successfully fulfilled more than eleven tabletop Kickstarter campaigns. Like many others, we faced our biggest challenges over the last couple of years and, despite global issues and high shipping prices, we managed to stick close to expected delivery times and to deliver with reasonable shipping costs, even delivering Bardsung early.

Although we typically design, develop, and publish our own games, this is Steamforged’s opportunity to use everything we’ve learned on the publishing side to help realise Diea’s dream of bringing a fantastic game back to life. We’re incredibly excited to see what the future holds."

Tadeáš Spousta, Diea Games, said: "We thought it wouldn’t be possible to bring Euthia back. Now, thanks to Steamforged, we have a route to do that. This partnership allows us to build Diea Games into a true development studio, which is something we’ve wanted since starting this journey, and to deliver the dream and experience of Euthia that we always planned.

We thank all fans of Euthia for their patience while we worked all of this out. We look forward to welcoming you back to Kickstarter, and to giving Euthia the chance it deserves."

Euthia will be resurrected on Kickstarter on July 26 this year with three straightforward pledge levels in place of the original seven. Due to the nature of this project and the sheer scope of the game, all content from the Kickstarter campaign will be Kickstarter exclusive and won’t go to general retail.

As a special "thank you" for supporting the game, anyone who backs Euthia on Kickstarter will receive a free hero conversion kit that turns the Adraghor the Soul Reaper, a formidable necromancer, into a playable character.
