Pokémon GO: GO Beyond Announcement

Niantic teased yesterday on Twitter with the Tweet Level 40 Cap? and today revealed their official plans. Their new initiative is called GO Beyond, and beginning the week of November 30th players can experience new aspects of the game.

  • ⭐ GO Beyond Discovery

Pokémon GO will GO Beyond by changing how Trainers level up and implementing Seasons, a new way to experience in-game events. Additionally Pokémon originally discovered in the Kalos region will be coming to Pokémon GO.

The developers also gave their insight into the upcoming changes.

Level-up Redesign

Leveling in Pokémon GO is getting rebalanced. Because of all the features added and changes made to the game, Niantic is revisited them to make leveling easier more fun.

Niantic has also announced that Trainers who reach level 40 before December 31st will earn the title of Legacy 40 Trainer, an exclusive Timed Research that rewards a Gyarados Hat avatar item and a special Legacy 40 medal.

To help Trainers reach level 40 faster, a double Catch XP bonus will be live from November 18th to December 31st.

Future Leveling Requirements

  • Level 41: Trainers will need to catch a high number of Pokémon in a single day, along with other tasks.
  • Level 42: Trainers will need to evolve Pokémon like Eevee into each of its available Evolutions, and use certain Evolution items on specific Pokémon.
  • Level 43: Trainers will need to have earn a certain number of Platinum medals. This will also reward an avatar item.
  • Level 44: Trainers will need to battle each other in Gyms and League Battles.
  • Level 45: Trainers will need to battle Team GO Rocket. This will also reward an avatar item.
  • Level 46: Trainers will need to complete a number of Field Research tasks, hatch a certain number of Eggs, and use GO Snapshot.
  • Level 47: Trainers will need to Raid under certain qualifications.
  • Level 48: Trainers will need to work with their Buddy, and will include things like kilometers walked and the number of Souvenirs you’ve collected. This will also reward an avatar item.
  • Level 49: Trainers will need to increase their friendship with their Friends, by sending Gifts, acquiring Lucky Pokémon through trades, and more.
  • Level 50: Trainers will need to master all aspects of the game. Some examples include making Excellent Throws, catching Legendary Pokémon, and defeating Team GO Rocket Leaders with Pokémon under 1,500 CP. This will also reward an avatar item.

Seasons

Pokémon GO will now experience seasons for winter, spring, summer, and autumn. Every three months Pokeémon GO will change based on the season.

  • Different Pokémon will appear more often in the wild, hatching from Eggs, and appearing in raids. Some Pokémon will only be available during a season.
  • Seasons are also based on what hemisphere you're in.
    • Example; Pokémon related to winter will be appearing in the wild in the northern hemisphere, while Burmy, Darumaka, and other Pokémon related to summer will be appearing in the wild in the southern hemisphere.
  • Different forms of Deerling will be appearing in the wild depending on the season in you're hemisphere.
  • In-game events will be themed based on the Season.

Mega-Evolved Pokémon

With each new Season the Mega-Evolved Pokémon appearing in Raids will change. Certain Mega-Evolved Pokémon will have limited periods where they will have increased total CP. Trainers will also have more opportunities to use these Mega-Evolved Pokémon.

GO Battle League

The GO Battle League Season 6 will expand from 10 to 24 ranks, and the top four ranks will have new names and corresponding badges. The expanded ranks will also have a new reward structure. GO Battle League rewards will also be tied to the theme of the current Season.

  • GO Battle League seasons will rotate formats on the same three-month schedule.

A Season of Celebration

Starting on December 1st, the first Season will begin "The Season of Celebration". Pokémon originally discovered in the Kalos region will be appearing in Pokémon GO. Special Research Tasks will be available from Professor Willow.

  • Trainers will be able to participate in a series of in-game events featuring Pokémon first discovered in different regions (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, or Kalos).
  • At the end of the Season of Celebration a new global event experience will be revealed.

Kalos Region Pokémon

Starting December 2nd, Pokémon first discovered in the Kalos Region will appear in Pokémon GO.

  • Frogadier
  • Greninja
  • Bunnelby
  • Diggersby
  • Fletchling
  • Fletchinder
  • Talonflame

  • Klefki (region exclusive to France)

A special event will be held from December 2nd until December 8th, along with Raids featuring Kalos Pokémon.

Update 11/30/2020

It was revealed that Espurr will be joining the 1 Star Raids as a new Pokémon.

12 Days of Friendship

The 12 Days of Friendship event kicks off today. Over the next 12 days (November 18th to November 30th) players will receive extra XP for opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling together in Raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles.

There’ll also be additional holiday events and Community Day in December to help you take advantage of all the changes.

  • Increased Friendship levels when opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling together in Raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles.
  • Receive an attack boost when you battle in raids with friends.
  • Increased XP from completing raids.
  • Trainers can open more Gifts each day.
  • Earn twice the XP from catching Pokémon.
