CMON's SDCC Exclusives: A Betrayal to Loyal Fans and Backers?

In recent years, CMON has built a reputation for creating some of the most beloved board games in the industry. Titles like Zombicide , Dune , Cyberpunk 2077 , Cthulhu: Death May Die , Arcadia Quest and Marvel United have garnered a dedicated fanbase, many of whom have supported these games through Kickstarter campaigns and retail purchases. However, CMON's recent decision to make exclusive content for these games available only at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) has sparked significant outrage among its loyal supporters. The Exclusivity Issue At the heart of the controversy are the exclusive expansions and content for Zombicide: White Death, Cthulhu: Death May Die, and Marvel United. These exclusives include: Zombicide: White Death TMNT Expansion: Featuring comics and Rocksteady and Bebop miniatures for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion. This expansion is only available at SDCC, but was highly requested by backers during the entire campaign. Godzilla Expansion for Cthulhu: D

Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #4

That’s just one of the reasons Alice and the Doctor have come to a remote space research facility.

The views are breathtaking… but so is the formless creature creeping through the station, stealing voices and inflicting comas on those research scientists unlucky enough to be caught.

Tracking the temporal trail of the slippery SERVEYOUinc corporation, has the Doctor found more than he bargained for? And will this entity from between the stars be the death of them all?

Writer Al Ewing (Loki: Agent of Asgard) and artist Boo Cook (2000AD, Elephantmen) ramp up the claustrophobia for a terrifying space adventure!

Cover & Solicit 4/5

  • Regular Cover: Varity Glass
  • Subscription Photo Cover

Art, Colors & Inking 3/5

This issue is drawn by Boo Cook (2000AD, Elephantmen). The art is just okay for me, nothing really spectacular or bad about it. I did have a problem with the way the doctor looked at times, sometimes his head seemed too big and other he looked too old.

Layout & Flow 3/5

This issue wasn't that hard to follow, but I do feel it lacked a proper flow. At times it seemed the story was going in one direction and then went in another. While that would be good in a keep things surprising way, it didn't accomplish this either.

Story 3/5

The Eleventh Doctor #4 is taken over by writer Al Ewing (2000 AD, Jennifer Blood, Mighty Avengers). The Eleventh Doctor's story continues his adventure with new companion Alice and John Jones. We initially find a future world with a professor explaining that in order to beat a foe you need to introduce something it's not familiar with. Al then ends the prologue with one of the scientists being attacked. When we next find the Doctor and his companions, Alice wants to go home. She explains you can't just run from your problems, and the Doctor responds with of course you can. After a fight over what the companions really are to the Doctor, he agrees to take Alice home. But unfortunately as always the TARDIS has other plans, and transports them to the space station from earlier in the issue. The Doctor explained that if they didn't it would cause a paradox from their prior encounter with SERVEYOUinc. It's nice to see some deeper meaning and revelations about the Doctor's character but I'm not sure if they fit this version of him.

Verdict - 3 (6/10) - (Buy Doctor Who) SAVE 10%

After the first two issues, I'm not really excited about the series. Maybe it's the new factor wearing off, or it could be the way the series is being presented. I had similar issues with the IDW comics after awhile, they tried to encompass the things that work on TV work in a comic and I don't think it really translates well. Being the first issue I think Al Ewing and Boo Cook did a good job but nothing really stood out. Again if your a Whovian pick this up, if not you may want to wait until the first arc is released in TPB.
