Pokémon TCG: Battle Styles Announcement

The Pokémon Company has announced they will be revealing a new Card/Game Mechanic "Battle Style" tomorrow on their official YouTube Channel.

Battle Style will be released as part of the Single Strike Master/Rapid Strike Master (s5r/s5i) set, and throughout next years expansions.

This mechanic is thought to be similar to Ancient Traits found in XY Primal Clash, XY Roaring Skies, and XY Ancient Origins. This mechanic was on both normal evolution cards and Mega Evolutions so unsure how these will work with the current cards including V and VMAX.

Update 12/15/2020

This new set introduces a mechanic similar to prior expansions like Black and White's Team Plasma and Team Magma where cards belong to one of two Battle Styles, either Rapid Strike or Single Strike. These cards will have abilities and trainers that allow you to draw cards with this typing or enhance them with special energy or items.

Battle Styles was also announced as the 5th Sword and Shield Expansion set.
