Wacky Wizard Games Imprint and Three New Games Announced by @wwizardgames

Image
Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Training Session

This has been a very interesting, and entertaining series, and although it hasn't always been brilliant, it has been good. I also have been enjoying the build-up to Battle of the Atom, and as we get even closer I'm getting more, and more excited.

Plot

Cyclops, and his X-Men go about training the younger members whilst Magneto heads off to meet Maria Hill.

Review

This was a very interesting, and entertaining issue, being very good. Brian Michael Bendis did a great job of adding suspense, and drama, as well as excitement to this issue, and it had a lot of tone to it. I did however feel that it was a little too quickly paced, as it didn't take that long to finish. Now that isn't usually a problem for me, as if it's a good, and exciting story I don't usually mind how quickly I read it, but for some it will, and at $3.99 some people may even feel slightly cheated. The dialogue for this issue was also amazing, being very natural, and entertaining. I also loved the character development, and was happy that we are finally getting more, as due to the constant flow off events, there hasn't been much time for this.

Frazer Irving returned to do the art for this issue having previously done the artwork on issues 5-7 of this series. I was had mixed feelings over Irving's art earlier in the series, as although it was amazing, it had a few awkward imperfections, also feeling that his art only suited the series due to the type of story suiting his style. He has however proved me wrong with this issue, as I actually prefer this lighter tone to his art, as having seen only dark magical stories featuring his art I wasn't sure whether he could do lighter tone. There was however still the odd awkward facial expression, but overall his art was outstanding, and his inks, and colours helped to make it phenomenal.

The Wolverine vs. The Panther

This series has been up and down in my opinion, as although there have been some enjoyable moments, it has been fairly average, and at times disappointing. I have however enjoyed the concept, and there has been brilliant moments, and I hope that this new story will be the great story this series needs.

Plot

Wolverine, Storm, Nick Fury Jr., and Victoria Von Frankenstein head to Wakanda to find The Host in hopes to finding a solution to the virus that is infecting people. Whilst on this mission however Wolverine, and Black Panther come to blows.

Review

This was a very good issue, and although the series is still not quite at the level I hoped that it'd be by now, it looks to be getting there, showing a lot of promise in this issue. Paul Cornell did a good job with the writing in this issue, as it was much more exciting than it has been of late. The dialogue during this issue was also extremely interesting, and I loved how Cornell showed the continuation of the relationship that Wolverine, and Storm are in, whilst keeping it subtle, not allowing it to take over the issue. Cornell also did a wonderful job with the action in this issue, which was very dynamic, and exciting, though I did feel that the momentum was drained a bit whenever it'd jump back, and forward in time.

I loved the art in this issue, and was extremely happy to see that Alan Davis was back on the artwork, as although Mirco Pierfederici's art was growing on me, it was nothing compared to Davis' amazing artwork. The detail in Davis' art is simply outstanding, with everything looking perfect. The two main things that I liked about Davis art in this issue was the layout, and the action sequences. The layout gave a very dynamic tone to the issue, adding depth as well, whereas the action simply amazed me, being very explosive, and exciting, with very fluent movements. I also loved the emotion in the characters, as although it felt a little stiff at times, it showed what the characters were feeling most of the time.

The Council Gathers

Now I haven't been reviewing this series, and don't actually get the series straight away, with a friend allowing me to read theirs when it's first out. I have however decided to review this series, as well New Avengers throughout Infinity.

Plot

The Galactic Council get a new member in the form of Skrull leader, Kl'rt, and the Avengers take the fight to the Builders.

Review

This was a brilliant issue, and although it wasn't quite perfect, it was amazing tie-in issue, and extremely enjoyable to read. Jonathan Hickman did a great job of continuing from where Infinity #1 left off, as although it may be awkward for anyone following the Avengers series, who hasn't been reading Infinity to get into, it was still very well handled. I also loved how Hickman managed to give a exciting, and interesting issue, which follows on from Infinity, without affecting the main story too much, as although it's following on from the events in that series, it's became it's own unique side story. I also loved the pacing of this issue, and how it had plenty of suspense, and drama.

The art on this issue was simply outstanding, and Leinil Francis Yu did a spectacular job. The detail was simply amazing, as with everything that's going on in these panels you'd expect a bit of sloppiness, or inconsistency from most artists, but Yu proves why he's one of the best artist in the business today. The depth to his layouts were also sensational, adding great drama, and tone to the issue. I also loved the way he drew all the characters, with them all looking amazing, also showing great facial expressions. The action was also brilliantly handled, being very explosive, and exciting, also giving more tone, and with Yu working on the art for at least the rest of Infinity I'll be looking forward to every issue from now on.

Outatime

This has been an amazing series so far, and has shown just how good Hulk can be in the right hands. It's also had some exciting stories, and with the direction the series is heading in it could become even more exciting.

Plot

Hulk, and Banner (who's consciousness is in a robot) have been sent back in time to 1873, to try and fix the changes that have been happening to their timeline, encountering dinosaurs when they shouldn't be, and a time travelling menace named Tok.

Review

This was a great issue, and although it wasn't quite as good as last issue, it was still amazing, and has gotten me even more excited about this Agent of T.I.M.E. story. Mark Waid has once again done an outstanding job of the writing with this issue, and although I'll never be happy with Age of Ultron, he has given it a purpose, as without that we wouldn't be getting this story. I also really enjoyed how fun this issue was, and that due to this being a time travel series that it has the potential to give something new, and exciting with each issue. Waid also did an excellent job of the dialogue, and narration in this issue, as I felt it was very natural, and dramatic.

Now I've never been overly fond of Matteo Scalera's art on this series, and although it has been growing on me, I wasn't too happy with his work on this issue. Now I didn't hate it, as there was a lot I liked, it's just that I felt that it was a little too rough, and jarring at times, with the backgrounds mostly being too plain. I did however love his dinosaurs, which were simply amazing, and I loved his art showing Hulk square off against them. The rest of the action was also brilliantly handled, being very exciting, and explosive. I also really liked Scalera's layout's, which were very dynamic, and unique, helping to make the characters, and events stand out more, as well as adding more drama.
