Wacky Wizard Games Imprint and Three New Games Announced by @wwizardgames

Image
Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Outer-body Experience

I've been a Spider-Man fan all my life, and along with many Spider-Man fans I have been upset with recent events. I have however came into this series trying to have as open a mind as possible, but I'm still finding it hard to like it.

Plot

This issue sees Superior Spider-Man (Doctor Octopus) trying to work out how to be Spider-Man whilst attempting to date Mary Jane, whilst the ghost of Peter Parker follows him.

Review

This wasn't a bad issue, but far from brilliant. Marvel, and Dan Slott have taken a huge gamble with this type of story, and so far it's not worked out, but that's my opinion, and it is still early days. Although I'm upset when any of my favorite characters die, I haven't been as upset as I am now. It's more with who's replaced Peter, as although Steve Rogers is the best Captain America, and Bruce Wayne the best Batman, I didn't mind it when Bucky Barnes, and Dick Grayson replaced them, as they were a good choice. It's not just the fact these characters are heroes, as I also liked Daken when he temporally replaced Wolverine. The only good thing about Doc Ock being Spider-Man is that it will keep people interested, and has the potential for good stories, even if it's not shown it so far. Besides that, this issues story wasn't that good, as despite liking the initial concept, it could have been handled a lot better, as it felt like a filler issue.

Once again Ryan Stegman produces some amazing artwork. I was really looking forward to him joining this series as I've loved his work in the past, mainly on Scarlet Spider, and Fantastic Four. Although some of the extras in crowds look a bit awkward, the main art is fabulous, and he really puts a lot of detail into his art. Although he didn't have many occasions to show quite how amazing his art can be, he did show it in a couple of sequences. The thing I liked most about Stegman's art was how he showed the difference between ghost Peter, and Doc Ock in Peter's body, as Doc Ock still carries some physical traits, as well as his character ones.

All-New X-Men #7

Legacy isn't a dirty word... but it's an irrelevant one. It's not important what our parents did. It matters what WE do. Someone has to save the world. You're someone. Do the math. The critically acclaimed team of Gillen/McKelvie/Wilson (with added Norton Sauce) decide to reinvent the teen superhero comic for the 21st century, uniting Wiccan, Hulkling and Hawkeye with Loki, Marvel Boy and Ms. America. No pressure. Young Avengers is as NOW! as the air in your lungs, and twice as vital. It's the book that knows Hyperbole is the BEST! THING! EVER!

Who to Trust?

I have really been enjoying this series, and it's by far the Marvel NOW! series I most look forward to reading each issue. Brian Michael Bendis has really put some life back into the X-Men franchise, as I personally was loosing interest in the X-Men, and I'm glad to see them in brilliant stories once more.

Plot

This issue sees the younger Cyclops retrieving his ruby quartz glasses from a safety deposit box, whilst also finding something a little more shocking. He also gets a surprise visit from Mystique, who gives him some advice.

Review

This was a brilliant issue, and I'm starting to get the feeling that this series is done messing around. Although I've loved all the issues in the series so far the last two have probably been the most consistent the series has been, and I'm glad as that was the only thing I was disappointed with. Bendis continues to bring excitement to this series by adding something volatile, which always makes it interesting whether the end result is good or bad, in this case good. The issue however wasn't without it's faults as unlike last issue it wasn't quite perfect, feeling a little slow from time to time.

Uncanny X-Men #1 - The New Revolution

The true flagship book of the X-Men returns. In the wake of the Phoenix, the world has changed and is torn on exactly what Cyclops and his team of X-Men are - visionary revolutionaries or dangerous terrorists? Whatever the truth, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Magneto, and Magik are out in the world gathering up new mutants and redefining the name UNCANNY X-MEN.

Children of the Revolution

I originally wasn't going to get this series, hence the reason I'm reviewing it so late. I did however decide to get it as it had decent reviews, but the main reason was the upcoming Battle of the Atom crossover which features this.

Plot

When a mysterious man turns up at an unknown S.H.I.E.L.D. location, asking for Maria Hill, he gets his wish, and is here to talk about Cyclops, and his mutant revolution.

Review

This was a great issue, and a brilliant start for the series, but it just felt a bit lacking in certain areas. Brian Michael Bendis did a great job of starting this series, and although it's nothing like his other X-Men series, All-New X-Men, it was still interesting, and something different. Although it took another series to continue the story of Cyclop's X-Men, it was nice to have finally seen it, and how Bendis has developed them into their own unique series, as although they're not my favorite X-Men, it was a bit disappointing to see them suddenly no longer make a regular appearance in All-New X-Men. Another thing Bendis did brilliantly in this issue was add mystery, and in the right way, as it once again made this series stick out from All-New X-Men, whilst also keep me as a reader intrigued. Bendis also did a decent job of the action, as although it took a while to come, when it did the issue got much more livelier, which was good, as it was starting to become slightly dull prior to that. The dialogue in this issue although not perfect was also decent, and I especially loved the dialogue from the new mutants, which was really entertaining.
