Songs From Evangelion, Other Anime Win JASRAC Awards

The Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) announced on Tuesday that it has given the first-place award in the latest JASRAC Awards to "Zankoku na Tenshi no Teeze" (" Thesis of a Cruel Angel "), the opening theme for the 1995-1996 Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime series. The song was sung by Yoko Takahashi, with lyrics by Neko Oikawa and composition by Hidetoshi Sato. The song earned the gold prize for its continued royalties from online sales, pachinko and pachislo (pachinko parlor slot machine) games, karaoke, and other venues in 2010 — 15 years after its debut. The song garnered renewed popularity with Hideaki Anno and Khara's ongoing four-film remake of Gainax's television series. JASRAC also handed out an International Award for the music that earned the most money overseas last year. Neon Genesis Evangelion Review

6/10 Neon Genesis Evangelion  was extremely popular in its time (some would say, it still is) and I believe the main reason for this is its captivating storyline. While the idea of humans riding around in giant robots wasn't particularly new when it was released, with series like  Gundam  and films like  Roujin Z  preceding it,  Evangelion  does successfully bring new ideas to the "mecha-table".

Evangelion: 1.01 & 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone Review

Original Review by:  Sheex  from Anime Planet 7/10 Okay, let me put it out there right off the bat - I haven't seen  Eva  in probably close to ten years, which means I was a wee little brat at the time and hardly consider my recollections about the series accurate or remotely fresh.  My memory of the series is thus, should I say,  sketchy , and I can't say I recall too much other than the following details: Eva 01 acquiring the S2 engine was awesome, Shinji was a total bitch, and the ending somehow inspired the Matrix trilogy  ( DVD ) to try to best it in lameness.  Even so, I remember enjoying it for the most part; after all, it was the first subbed anime I ever set my eyes on.
