Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Everyday Heroes Modern RPG by Evil Genius Games Coming Soon to Kickstarter

The forces of evil are at it again. The Hackers are sabotaging power plants. The mafia is rebuilding. Master Thieves are stealing the world’s precious artwork. Gangs are taking over new turf. Evil geniuses are trying to take over the world. Who will stop them? Perhaps you, just Everyday Heroes.

Evil Genius Productions LLC, announced that it will launch a modern-day roleplaying game called Everyday Heroes inspired by d20 Modern and converting it to Fifth Edition (5e) to create a fresh take on the 20th Anniversary.

The d20 Modern tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) was released over 20 years ago and was one of the first and most popular roleplaying games set in modern day. During it's four-year lifespan, the system released 11 expansions and created an explosion of 3rd party products that complemented the original game.

The game was designed by Bill Slavisek, Jeff Grubb, Rich Redman, and Charles Ryan, with Grubb joining Evil Genius Production's design team to create the new Everyday Heroes RPG.

"It’s exciting to revisit the d20 system I helped design 20 years ago," said Grubb. "How we think about game design has evolved significantly so this is a great opportunity to bring concepts of the d20 Modern game into the fifth edition era for today’s players."

Like its spiritual successor, Every Day Heroes starts with key d20 Modern elements such as the basic classes; the strong hero, the fast hero, the tough hero, the smart hero, the dedicated hero, and the charismatic hero. It also builds on this convention by introducing several new subclasses, a new wealth system, and a fully revamped chase mechanic. Grubb stated, "Our goal is to use d20 Modern as inspiration, not duplication."

Grubb is joined by fellow d20 Modern producer Stan! Brown and veteran game designer Steve Miller. They have worked on some of the most iconic role-playing settings, including Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Ravenloft, Marvel Superheroes Roleplaying Game, and the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games (Fantasy Flight Games). The veterans are joined by two new game designers, Chris Ramsay and Sigfried Trent.

Core Rulebook includes;

  • 6 Character Classes (e.g., the Strong Hero, the Smart Hero)
  • 18 Sub Classes (e.g., the Marksman, the Scientist, the Commando)
  • 50 New Professions and Backgrounds
  • 100 New Feats
  • Expanded Firearm Rules
  • Simple and Advanced Ammunition and Encumbrance Rules
  • Revised Chase Rules
  • New Armor and Cover Rules

"It’s an amazing experience to work alongside Jeff Grubb and other developers on the Everyday Heroes game." Says Sigfried Trent. "Jeff is a real hero of mine and an expert in game design."

Everyday Heroes is currently in development and will be released on Kickstarter later this year. To learn more about this release, visit www.evilgeniusgaming.com and subscribe to their mailing list.
